Dyslexia Tutoring Testimonials

My daughter went to Chico Center for Learning for her reading problem.  She couldn’t read at all when starting this program.  After completion of this program her reading continues to improve.  At the beginning of third grade she tested at a 2nd grade 6 months reading level.  Mid year she tested at a 2nd grade 7 months but at the end of the year she tested at a 4th grade 2 months reading level.  The teacher couldn’t believe the progress she made.  I wish all children with reading problems could be in this program.  Reading is the key to everything..

Thank you so much for all your help with Joey.  As he says, “I am a reader now.”  His teacher this year says he is great at sounding out words.  I tell everyone to send their kids to you if they are having learning problems.  All of you are awesome – Thank you so much.

I am the mother of two boys.  It was a little over a year ago when I received a call from the teacher of my 9-year-old expressing concern of whether or not he should go on to third grade due to problems with his fluency and reading skills.  Absolutely in shock and dismay, I did not understand how this could be, as he seemed to read and comprehend just fine.  Not understanding (or even agreeing with that matter) with how the State of California has changed their criteria in regard to comprehensive reading abilities, it became apparent that I had to act and act fast.

By word of mouth I was referred to Chico Center for Learning.  They took my son in like he was their own.  His abilities to learn and comprehend expanded faster than I could ever imagine.  All of the credit goes to the wonderful teachers at CCL. They have made an ever-lasting impression on my son and definitely made life a whole lot easier.

Confidence goes a long way.  Hats off to such a wonderful program!

CCL provides numerous benefits for any child with a learning challenge.  My son has progressed academically because his reading ability has improved.  His confidence and self-esteem has also increased.  As a parent I am grateful for their consistency and individual attention that meets each child’s needs.  My son’s achievement is proof of that!

My son first attended Chico Center for Learning when he was in the third grade.  He had been struggling with his reading since the beginning of his education.  As he progressed in school, and more classes began incorporating reading into the curriculum, his grades began to drop even in subjects he had previously succeeded in: math and science.  By the end of the second grade he was failing, and his teacher recommended holding him back.

We chose to try a year of instruction with Linda Bates instead of repeating the school year.  Within several months it was evident that we had made the right choice.  He was developing skills that helped him begin to catch up with his reading, and every week there was a little more improvement.  He felt good about meeting with Linda as she made the experience enjoyable for him.  His dread of school began to lessen and he stopped complaining of stomachaches and headaches.

Today our son is not a straight A student, but he is successful in his classes.  He continues to work hard to keep up his reading and regularly uses the skills Linda taught him.  His enjoyment of science has returned, and he’s enthusiastic about many class projects.  I strongly recommend Chico Center for Learning for any struggling student.

I would like to take a moment to tell you how pleased my husband and I are with the outcome of our son’s advancement in his reading skills.  As you well know, we started out with you somewhat panicked as we were informed by his school that he was below standards.

Since that time our son has made tremendous strides in his academic reading abilities.  He is not only fluent but can comprehend in a way that he could not do so before.  It is nice to actually see him excited to read a book.

All of this should be credited to Chico Center for Learning for not only your abilities to teach but also for your patience in doing so.  Our son is a better student and all of share the joys of that.

In closing, may it be know that we have referred friends to you recently, and will continue to do so in the future.  It is our hopes that they too will share the same benefits and strides that we were so lucky to experience as a family.  We wish you and all of the staff there the very, very best.
