About Us
Our Philosophy
At Chico Center for Learning:
-
We believe in teaching with the methods that best fit each student.
-
We study and use scientific data and information to address dyslexia.
-
We believe in changing teaching approaches to work for the student, rather than expecting the student to change learning styles to suit the teacher.
-
We honor the gifts that each student has within them.
-
We know that learning to read does not need to be painful.
-
We feel that caring, celebrating and enjoying are necessary to balance the rigors of study.
CCL currently is a small non-profit organization. CCL has always hired credentialed teachers and trains them to provide tutoring for children and adults with dyslexia and other special learning needs. CCL started as a partnership in 2003. In 2009, CCL incorporated and applied for non-profit status. The CCL Board Members initiated an Outreach and Awareness Campaign in 2011. Informative workshop evenings were planned and conducted at the Butte County Library Conference Room in Chico, which were open to the public during both 2011 and 2012. Chico Center for Learning used to offer kindergarten readiness but that program ended in 2016. We currently offer tutoring services.
